DUAL | BOSCH VACUUM & BLOW DRYER 

| THE NEXT GENERATION OF CORDLESS VACCUUMS

DUAL is the next generation of cordless vacuums. The initial version of this concept was designed in Graz, Austria in the fall of 2018, designed in a sponsored studio by BOSCH and B/S/H. In 2019, I took the creative direction another route creating a fresh and minimal body and experience for this asymmetrical hair dryer and vacuum. 

| RESEARCH, SKETCHING & CAD 

Research can be one of the most exciting part of the process. Bosch wanted a unique experience for a very specialized group. I started by studying the profession and the tools that are constantly used then shadowing a customer for a haircut. The biggest insight I gathered was that home experience of brushing out the hair and then having a sink full of hair clippings. Quick 3D sketching in CAD allows for me to quickly build physical forms and understand proportions.

DUAL first launched as a travel cordless vacuum for barbers. Bosch wanted a unique experience for a very specialized group. I started by studying the profession and the tools that are constantly used then shadowing a customer for a haircut. The biggest insight I gathered was that home experience of brushing out the hair and then having a sink full of hair clippings. This brought on the DUAL option of having a hair dryer alternative option. The ability to easily transition from blowing hair to absorbing air in one sleek form was the goal. Keeping simplicity at the heart of this design, I wanted the controls and charging experience to be a minimal as possible.
