TYRANT CNC | T.D.C. 004 MINIPRY

| THE PERFECT TACTICAL STEALTH TOOL

This multi-pry tool was designed to feel like the perfect tactical and stealth tool. This tool was designed to not have an intentional use but be a multi-tool that can be used in any situation.  I  was responsible for design, development, and CAD modeling. I assisted with the vendor  communication, DFM and DFA processes.

| OPTIMIZING PART COUNTS

We took a few approaches to including the nail lift, a flat head, pocket clip, Tyrant Design’s hex comp key, paracord, and a take down pin tool. With moving parts some concepts had anywhere from 5 part counts to 15. We stressed early on in the process that for cost purposing we wanted to keep the complexities and moving parts to a minimum. The price range for this product was a market price of $30 — $40 USD. Setting a goal for our price to be $35, much lower than competitors.

| TRANSLATING CLIENT REQUIREMENTS & ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS TO IDENTIFY PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS, OBJECTIVES & CONSTRAINTS

This Multi-pry tool was intended to not have a clear form for a purpose but to have a shape that makes is beneficial in many tactical settings. The client wanted this to be exciting in the hand but it also needed to conform to the existing clip used on their pocket knife. we were able to simplify and identify its primary functions and potential pain points in the design. It was paramount that we included a nail lift, a flat head, pocket clip, Tyrant Design’s hex comp key and a take down pin tool to pair with their Glock products. This helped to build a blue print for sketching, we were able to identify what the overall dimensions would look like as well as the placements for these features.

| CONCEPT DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

While acknowledging the requirements for this product, in this early stage we were still able to push the boundaries of the form and how some of the tooling features might look on different form factors. The client also did market research and identified that including some type of paracord in the concept would be ideal as it is important to their consumers and can serve as a secondary use story. We wanted to select the concept that best fits all desired needs for the consumer and client wants.
