VALKYRIE | XENITH SNOW JACKET

| WOMEN'S LAYERED, THERMAL-REGULATING, SNOWBOARDING JACKET

VALKYRIE is a women’s layered thermal regulating snowboarding jacket. Designed in the Winter of 2018 for Xenith. I lead the VBL, Research, Development and final product, Photography and Creative Direction. VALKYRIE was designed to be Dynamic, Minimal, and Purposeful from material selection to functionality. 

| TRANSFORMABLE SOFT GOODS

VALKYRIE’s story is focused on experience. Snowboarding is an extremely tiring sport and cause the body to produce a lot of heat while on the slopes, after arriving at the bottom many want to remove layers to reduce body heat. This jacket provides a transformative experience between warmth and cooling. Promoting Inclusivity by providing women facing snowboarding gear, providing thermal regulating equipment by creating a layer removal system that is not clunky, complicated or cumbersome, fostering adaptability on the field to allow for the user to determine their own unique experience.

| VBL & RIGOROUS IDEATION PROCESS

I began by studying Xenith’s Brand Book to understand the Visual Brand Language and copywriting that best describes the company. The initial briefing asked that we look into different potential sporting markets for the brand. I looked into Tennis, Snowboarding, and Speed Cycling. I focused on understanding the sport, identifying common injuries, the “player fit” (the user type), and the lead competitors in the field. For the launch of the VBL Styling guide we gathered into teams to develop a guide for each sport. I landed at two concepts, an underbody suit with structural components to aid in training and performance, and heat regulating jacket that was bold and performance heavy on the slopes, this is directly linked with Xenith’s brand identity and mission.
