C.O.T.S. Peggy’s Place Mural 2024

In the summer of 2024, Bailey Morgan led a class of five high school students in a community-driven mural project in partnership with C.O.T.S. Peggy’s Place, Community Arts Partnership, and Grow Detroit Young Talent. This initiative aimed to uplift and transform the space through art, bringing warmth and positivity to an environment that serves individuals and families facing housing insecurity. Recognizing the sensitive nature of the space and the presence of children, the project focused on creating an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere, using art as a tool for healing, empowerment, and storytelling. Through mentorship and hands-on experience, Bailey guided students in developing their artistic skills while fostering a sense of community engagement and creative impact.

Children’s Hospital Mural 2023

Bailey Morgan led a team of 9-12 students in designing and creating an interactive mural for Detroit Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with Community Arts Partnership. This initiative combined art, storytelling, and engagement, resulting in a large-scale mural, an accompanying picture search booklet, and an interactive puzzle in print format to further immerse young patients in the experience.

As part of the project, six students were shuttled to the hospital, where they participated in live painting sessions in the hospital lobby. They also engaged with young patients by distributing booklets and crayons, allowing children undergoing treatment to create their own personal murals. The project’s impact was recognized with an award from Detroit Children’s Hospital, honoring its contribution to healing, creativity, and community connection.
